Hello!

My name is Emma Haggerty and I am a recent graduate with a Master's in Geography & Environment and GIS Certificate from George Washington University. I am passionate about applications of GIS and geoprogramming in climate analysis and hazard mitigation, with a special interest in science communication and open-access GIS.

Most recently, I worked as a climate researcher under Dr. Dmitry Streletskiy. By combining geospatial modeling techniques and qualitative investigation, I worked to evaluate climate change impacts on permafrost and infrastructure in the Arctic and produced actionable insights for a diverse range of stakeholders and community members.

In recent years, I have traveled annually to Alaska for the Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring (CALM) program to collect on-site field data about permafrost characteristics, a database which I continue to be involved with. My past work includes analyses of agricultural land suitability in Southern Brazil and economic impacts from hazards modeling along the Kara Sea.
